I went to replace a pressure relief valve on a burnham hot water system . I noticed that the water temp. was only 85 derees the aquastat was set to 180 and the burner did not fire they fired only when the the thermosstat called for heat any ideas would be great

On a hot water system
the thermostat should control the circulator, not the burner -- and the aquastat the burner. Check all your wiring, then if it's still no go check the controls themselves.Br. Jamie, osb

thanks for the reply. after speaking with a burnham rep i was told their gas boilers are cold start boilers which means that the aquastat does not maintain water temp. the reason why the relief valve is blowing off may be the expansion tank lost its charge0
