Catalytic converters for oil burners?

Catalytic converters. I know they use them on automobiles and on cleaner burning wood stoves. Do they make them for oil burning appliances? Would they be of any use, as far as more making the appliance significantly more efficient or cleaner burning?

Catalytic converters
could be created for oil burning applliances, although the system would be much more akin to the systems used on diesel engines than those used on gasoline engines. They could be set up to clean the stack gas, but it is likely that changes would be required for the oil burners themselves (particularly in controlling the fuel/air ratio, which is done on all Tier III and TierIV diesels). They would also likely include a need for urea injection, as do many (but not all) diesel systems.
Would they work? Sure, so far as reducing air pollution (except CO2). Would they improve efficiency? No. Are they commercially available? Not so far as I know.Br. Jamie, osb
