Name Clash Again

Options
When I first registered at this site, I picked JD as a login. After a while, it came to my attention that someone else was using it, and since he had it first, I changed mine to JDB. That seemed OK for a while, but now jdb is posting, and he seems to have had his first too.

So now what? Should I change mine again? Will this ever end? Or is the fact his is all lower case and mine is all upper case enough so no one gets mixed up?

I wish the registration procedure would detect these duplicates instead of just letting them happen.

    jdb here

    Sorry, JDB

Noticed this also. Our Avatars are different, and I don't plan on being here that much.

    Why be sorry?

You do not have to be sorry; you had it first. I think it is a weak spot in the registration procedure.that does not detect these. You are right that my avatar is different from yours, so if you do not care, I do not either.

    A humble suggestion:

Just use your name. It has always worked for me.

    A long, long time ago

when I first got involved with The Wall, there were seven or eight guys on here named Frank who posted a lot. Realizing that would cause confusion, I came up with "Steamhead" in about five seconds- and it stuck like Krazy Glue.

    So "handles" have their place.

I think that was at least three Wall versions ago, Dan- doesn't seem like we've really been at it this long.

    Monikers

Early on in Wall history, I assumed PAH (plumber at heart) to stir the radiant pot and that stuck even after my "secret" identity was uncovered. When Lily came into our lives, that became GrandPAH.

Imagine the avatar for Tickles would be positively frightful!

Some say I have 2 middle names

Some think I have a middle name, but I do not have one.

So I doubt anyone else has my entire name. I used to get beat up for it when I was in grade school "because I was a girl." Well, I was not and am still not Those creeps in my school were not logical. They did not beat up the other girls.

I hope this fixes it once and for all.

P.S.: that avatar is a real toy piano of mine, with a picture of Schroeder on top of it.

Toy pianos have become taken seriously in the music world. One friend of mine has played toy piano in Carnegie Hall, and another in the penthouse of Lincoln Center.

    This is Phyllis Chen.

This is Margaret Leng Tan playing Philip Glass's Modern Love Waltz on two toy pianos.

    steamhead

I've always wondered what steamhead means.

Is it the air space above the water line on a boiler, or does it mean you have a temper? :)

    Or something completely different?

    Speaking of names

and what others call us grand-kids have a funny way of calling you something when they first begin to talk. My first grandchild for whatever reason called me "Boppy" well every grandchild since ( I have three) along with the adult members of my family now call me "Boppy".

Curious what do your grand kids call you?

    Poppy

My sister-in-law, Missy, gave me that name when she lived with us for eight years. Missy has Down Syndrome. It stuck. She thinks my real name is Ed.

    You are quite welcome.

I never thought my name to be "classy" because of the suffering I had to endure when I was a kid. It is not classy in France, where it just means John-David Beyer. But the trouble started when I moved to USA at age 14 months.

I was worried that the links might be too off-topic, but I happen to know both these musicians and like them and their work very much. Both can play the adult piano in addition to the toy piano. Margaret Leng Tan is quite famous for her performances  of the work of the American composer John Cage, who is famous for, among other things, his invention of the "prepared piano."

This is an excerpt from a video that was made of her.
