HOW DO I TROUBLE SHOOT THIS SYSTEM? HOW MANY MILLIVOLTS SHOULD THE THERMOCOUPLE PRODUCE? WHERE CAN I PURCHASE A REPLACEMENT?

That thermocouple procedure
will not help you as what you have is a Powerpile Self Generating System. The VS 8187 gas valve by the way is no longer available as a replacement should you need it.
The pilot generator puts out 750 millivolts for starters. If you go to the "Resources" above then click "Library" and look for "Tim McElwains Closet" you will find the procedure for Troubleshooting Powerpile System. If you have to replace the gas valve a VS820A will do the job and you will have to reroute the pilot tubing to originate at the new valve.0 -
