    Why do you want

to sense carbon dioxide. Do you mean CO (Carbon Monoxide)? There are low level CO sensors avaialble for purposes of detecting CO and they are battery operated and can be mounted anywhere you want, they are just not a part of a thermostat.

    Regulating CO2?

Is your intention to regulate minimum outdoor air on a forced air system based upon high levels of carbon dioxide? If so, this falls into the realm of a BMS Systems and if that is what you are looking for this type of sensor is available from the likes of Carrier and others.

Look for BAS CO2 room units, Designed to work with the APOGEE building automation systems and BACnet programmable terminal equipment (PTEC), the Series 2200 range of BAS CO2 room units include sensing only models.and fully interactive models.
