how many have heard of "Workforce Guidelines for Home Energy Upgrades"? It is a 600 page document that could soon be the standard to which contractors must be certified to do work involving federal funds. However a coalition of concerned industry organizations has said that the guidelines are flawed. This first came out in the federal register back in November 9th 2010. The fear is that state and local governments could simply adopt these guidelines as their standards.
This is Home Star all over again and BPI is at the forefront again as the certifying agent.
The entire article on this is in the September 12 issue of the NEWS.

This reminds a story Amory Lovins (an environmentalist) tells. He is a proponent of wood-burning stoves for heating (where they are appropriate). A tree hugger complained about cutting down trees and burning them, even if they are renewable resources. He remarked he did not do that Tben what does he burn in his wood stove? "Energy studies."
Maybe energy could be saved by burning documents like this.0 -

Looks like BPI and the DOE
is a done deal according to my latest issue of Contractor Magazine. Bob Mader the Editor-in-Chief has an editorial at the end of the magazine and it is also a featured article in the paper itself. If you are interested I will copy the editorial here.0
