Should the water in a steam boiler be mantained to a certain PH?
If so, what is the proper Ph and how can this be mantained?
Residential low pressure boiler. Thanks for all replys

Unless...
your water is really strange -- very acid (under say 5) or really basic (over say 8) the consensus here seems to be that treating boiler water for a residential heating system isn't necessary -- and may even be harmful; the fewer odd chemicals in the water the better.
This does, however, assume that you aren't adding that much water to your system. If you are, you may have corrosion problems -- not so much from the water itself, but the oxygen in the water. On the other hand, if you are adding a significant amount of water, you may well have a leak which is not a good thing!Br. Jamie, osb
