indirect domestic hot water heater

I am currently using a hot water recirculating system on my domestic HW system. I ran a line from the furthest fixture to the bottom drain of my Indirect HW heater. System works great and I now get HW almost instantly without a pump. I now have to replace my aging HW heater. All the new ones I see now have the cold water enter on the bottom with a tee to a drain. If I connect the line there will the system work?

Most indirect tank mauals have a piping schematic in them that will include how the manufacture recommends piping recirc. lines,0
