Radiator sizing

I have a customer with a leaking under floor convector in a wooden box, with wooden ducting to the outside that introduces fresh air to the house through the heating system. I need to replace the convector with a radiator, and am planning to size the new radiator to the maximum size the  supply and return piping will support . The house was in the mid to late 1800's, present owners have been there since the 70's and tell me the rooms that have these convectors never heated well. Most of the house has one pipe radiators.Does anyone have a suggestion of a better way other than a complete heat loss of the entire house ( house is huge)

    Underfloor convectors

they are a nuisance, aren't they?

But why do a heat loss on the whole house, when it sounds as though you are just doing one room or two?  Just do those -- unless there is a huge doorway or archway into a much colder (or warmer!) space, you won't be far off.
