An Idea I have been toying with

I propose using a 5psi gauge on low pressure steam. They are less expensive than 3 psi gauges and still sensitive enough to show clear movement of less than a pound. What do you guys think?

  • a great idea but?????

can it be really true that the slightly higher pressure gauge is priced so much lower that it would be a sort of safe bet for the homeowner?

now beyond charlies first post, i want to go further........

we are of course now required to use a lot of parts which have been chosen on price alone at the big-box stores, so why not? we are unfortunately used to selecting things now on the basis of initial price. this is nothing new, as even one of the early  rolls-royce advertisements had said  in retaliation, "the quality is remembered long after the price has been forgotten" can we ever get back to that philosophy?

also old sayings include: "i am too poor to buy cheap tools"

"only the rich can afford to buy cheap  goods"

i am sure others may have other sayings like this.

let's all remember that there is a price to be paid for buying cheap-- buying from abroad!--nbc
