SENSING FLAME???

HEY EVERYONE WHAT IS THE PROPER WAY TO CHECK FLAME SIGNAL?? THEY WAY IVE BEEN DOING IT IS THAT I PUT MY METER LEADS IN SERIES WITH THE FLAME SENSOR WIRE AND SET THE METER TO MILLIAMPS OR IS IT MICROAMPS?? AND WHAT SHOULD I BE READING???THANKS

The flame sensing is in
microamps and should be between 2 to 10 microamps, 3 to 5 is normal on most applications. Check the specifications on the electronic control your system uses.
You are correct to place the meter in series with the sense terminal on the electronic control or on some controls burner ground is also an acceptable location. If your meter has a microamp setting it would look like this
