heat pump

I HAVE A COMFORT AIRE HEAT PUMP 2 YEARS OLD.R-22. HERE OUTDOOR TEMP 58 DEG. INDOOR 68 DEG. WHEN IN AC THE PRESSURES ARE 60PSI LOW SIDE  135 PSI HIGH SIDE.  WHEN I SWITCH TO HEAT PUMP MY SUCTION SIDE TO THE COMPRESSOR IS 45 PSI. BUT MY HIGH AND LOW SIDE PORTS GO UP TO 450 PSI AND THEN THE COMPRESSOR SOUNDS LIKE IT IS RELEASING PRESSURE. MY QUESTION IS ..IS THIS THE OUTDOOR TXV VALVE NOT WORKING ? I DID NOT FURTHER PERSUE IT BECAUSE OF DARKNESS . CAN SOMEONE PLEASE RESPOND BACK.  THANK YOU ! SCOTT

    Bad TXV

That's exactly what it sounds like. The noise from the compressor could be the internal relief valve dumping because of the excessive head pressure.

Make sure your indoor blower is running in heat and the coil is clean.

    I agree with Ironman

It is possible that your reversing valve is not switching fully and you are for lack of a better word "dead heading" the compressor.  I have only seen this happen maybe twice in 25 years.

I would check the TXV first and make sure the indoor fan is coming on.

    Good Luck
