Second snowman in a row. In this case the owner had had the asbestos abated and, hopefully with some help, gotten it out of the basement. All that's left is the footprint, the base and the old Cleveland "Toridheet" burner complete with stack relay. It was firing 1.10 GPH, for a BTU input of 154,000.

A Lady and a Boiler
The owner was away and Naomi was house-sitting during the project. Here she enjoys the warmest spot in the basement, at least until the pipes are insulated.
We removed another old Series 10 thermostat, this one without a clock. The old Hoffman #4 was on the long main, and it had failed closed. The plug was in the short main. The house took forever to heat- a snowman and no main venting will do that.
We installed a VisionPro 8000, two Gorton #1 vents on the long main and a single #1 on the short main. With Vent-Rite #1 adjustables in the bedrooms and a Gorton #5 on the big living-room radiator, the house heats quickly and pretty evenly.
The 3-section Smith G-8 has an input of 105,000 BTUH. Lower firing rate, quicker steam production and good venting should save a lot.All Steamed Up, Inc.
