Take a guess at what this venting configuration is for. It was on a house my youngest bought this summer. Let's just say it's a good thing most of the heat was supplied by a wood burner.

Concentric vent
I think someone should tell that guy about concentric vents. He sure doesn't understand physics. That furnace should have been burning very cleanly.0 -
Think two separate appliances......
The one on the right is a standard old Hiel 90% furnace. The cute 3" PVC thingy (schd 30 no less) is the vent for the atmospherically vented water heater. Needless to say, it has been removed from service.0
