Is anyone watching the BP live cam of the oil leak and attempted repairs?

<a href="http://www.bp.com/liveassets/bp_internet/globalbp/globalbp_uk_english/homepage/STAGING/local_assets/bp_homepage/html/rov_stream.html">http://www.bp.com/liveassets/bp_internet/globalbp/globalbp_uk_english/homepage/STAGING/local_assets/bp_homepage/html/rov_stream.html</a>

The diamond cutoff saw on the ROV is stuck and they're trying to free the blade.

This disaster will affect all of us for a long time.  It's sad to see such suffering from the wildlife that's threatened to the economic holocaust that will result.  I wonder if BP has the resources to pay for the damage?  How does one put a price on the long term damage?

    thanks for the link

Its almost as if it were some kind of video game with the fate of environmental holocaust in the balance.  No high score here, just the lives of so many who have or stand to lose everything by the hands of those who chose to be left un-accountable.

DRILLING BAN COULD LEAD TO A SIGNIFICANT DROP IN US GAS PRODUCTION

The federal government's six-month ban on deepwater drilling in the Gulf of Mexico could curb U.S. gas production by more than 50% within four years, according to a Lippman Consulting report. If no additional Gulf wells are finished because of the moratorium, deepwater gas production could drop to approximately 910,000 million cubic feet per day in 2012 and 1.45 billion cubic feet per day by 2014, said Lippman executive Ron Denhardt, according to this article. BP SHARES SLUMP AS US ANNOUNCES A CRIMINAL PROBE

The Obama administration will launch a criminal inquiry into the Gulf of Mexico oil spill. The news sent the oil giant's shares into a nosedive, with some experts saying that the company could collapse. Damages

Let's not forget that BP is only on the hook for 75 million per the current regulation. Interesting to see where this goes.

I wish there was something that told you what you were looking at. I assume right now I'm seeing the latest cap on it's way to the bottom. Just not sure.

75 mill just a drop in the bucket for BP

I went to their financial report....BP made about 30 Billion a year IN PROFIT (before taxes) on average for the last 3 years.  BP makes 75 million in profits in only 22 hours, so fines, etc are meaningless to them.

    that's domestic production

but that's less than 5% of domestic usage.

domestic production is currently nothing compared to what we use.

    Technical thread covering BP mess

This thread is primarily about what to do to stop or significantly reduce the oil leak.

    http://www.flickr.com/photos/uscgd8/4551846015/page29/

The thread is long.  It has serveral Petroleum industry people who have added significant technical details.  Mark E showed up a couple of times with his heated glass.  Check out page 24, about 3/4 of the way down, for links to all 12 ROV video feeds.

Please read the last 15 pages before suggesting solutions.  Many ideas have been submitted without fully understanding the existing conditions and the materials in play.
