When mounting an expansion tank (an Extrol Model 15) -- in the piping
for a hydronic coil in a air handler -- is it OK to mount it
horizontally? The contractor mounted it that way, and I just noticed
that it says on the expansion tank to only mount it vertically. If this
is going to be a problem, I'd like to get it fixed before he's finished
with the job.
Thanks,
Paul

It should be
mounted as instructed simply because it says so. It really does not matter in the final analysis however. The concern is if it gets water logged in the horizontal position it may snap off and you would have a lot of water.0 -
Orientation
Thanks for the reply! I hadn't even thought about what might happen if the tank were to become too heavy for its fitting. I'll definitely have the tank reoriented.
