If you cant use black pipe and cast iron emitters, you should insulate all copper heating pipes, thats how i was taught. What do u think about insulating all heating pipes?

insulating piping
In my book, all heat piping should be insulated. The pipe is just the conduit to get the BTUs to where you want them. Uninsulated pipe = lost energy.0 -
Doesn't matter
what the metal is -- copper or black or whatever. If it's not intended as an emitter or radiator and it's a steam or hot water line, insulate it. If it's a dry return or wet return, it doesn't matter so much -- but if it's a hot water system, I'd insulate everything that wasn't an emitter.Br. Jamie, osb
