any one experienced in how long a burner in Polaris water heaters should last. We've got one that seems to be around 10 years old and worked fine up to a month or two ago. The home when thru a remodel over the summer and the intake was open to the construction for awhile. We vacuumed the intake line out and it ran ok (3 monthes) unit recently, then quit. Had to put another burner in to it to get it going again. Any one had similar experience or had to replace one before.

The construction
contamination probably did it in. That is very typical of any gas or oil system being fired in a construction zone. Hot Surface Ignitors are especially susceptible to contamination in those environments.0
