Is it advantageous to vent the header?

    Rarely done unless thru a steam trap as a drip on a large header. Usually the end of the main vents will get the steam out there if properly sized and working. What size of header are we talking?

     I see not reason to vent a residential header if the near boiler piping is done correctly.
