boiler feed pump

Equipment:  Peerless 211A-07 boiler

Hoffman Duplex feed pump, McDonald Miller l.w.c.o./pump control

I have a one pipe steam system with the return header in the boiler room above the boiler water line with a master f & t trap.  The problem is, the boiler runs for awhile, the pump control activates the feed pump and sometimes the low water cutoff part of the controller shuts off the burners.  I have tried different settings of the circuit setters on the pump outlets.  Still having problems.

Also, due to improper header piping, gas pressure has to be set low to keep from entraining water up thru steam header.
