Daikin Altherma

I'm attending a class on installing the new Altherma. It's an interesting concept using an air to water heat pump. The low temp model can reach 120 degree water and will work for radiant floors that need 120 or under. The high temp model (not out yet) will reach 160 and can replace small boilers with a heat pump. As we use up our finite fossel fuels I think we will be seeing more of this kind of product

It would be interesting to see detailed performance charts.

I could only find specs for two ELT/LLT scenarios, both at 7 deg. C ambient, which is not what we'd call winter in these parts. "They say" that the unit can provide heat down to -20 deg. C (-4 deg. F), but I couldn't find any indication of how much and how efficiently (nor for anything in between.) Was this covered in your class?

Would be a great alternative to geothermal if it were a great alternative to geothermal.

    Apparently it has

capacity at low temps due to the compressors ability to modulate and creeate more capacity.  Seems pretty amazing but a little pricey too. WW
