in Gas Heating
Any ideas on what is available in residential high efficiency water heaters that would be rated at 94% or better? We can get government cash ($750) for installing one, but the only model I found so far was from A.O. Smith. Thanks all.

what are you needs?
Do you need the tank? Navien has a tankless that is 98% and you get the $1500 back. I suppose if you needed the tank you could add it as a booster....kpc0 -
Hi efficiency gas storage water heater
Take a look at the Hamilton Engineering Companion they can achieve some nice efficiencies and they are easier to work on if need be. Its kind of a Hybrid system between tank style and boilers with a storage tank.0 -
I don't believe
There are any storage type residential gas water heaters that meet the requirement for the federal tax credit. The tax credit also isn't $1,500.00. It's upto $1,500. The credit is 30% of the job to include labor. Your job would have to cost $5,000 to get the full credit. You should be looking at instantaneous gas water heaters such as Rinnia, Noritz, Navien etc. There was an error rendering this rich post.

Federal Tax Credit Information
Here is the link. As I stated there are NO residential tank type water heaters that meet the standard for the tax credit.

Electric, not gas will meet requirements
I know its not a gas heater but the new Rheem heat-pump water heater meets the tax credit requirements. There was an error rendering this rich post.
