Duplicate forum nicknames?

I see that there is another "David" who's been posting here longer than I have. I'd like to change my nick to avoid any confusion but how can I know that it's unique if the system allows duplicates? Dan, you may want to rethink that policy.

That is why I do not

use "Tim" as there are several Tim's  here at the site. My last name is unique enough so as to not be a problem.

What I do,

is use my full name. That always works and I find that I'm the only Dan Holohan posting here and I'm quite proud of my family name. If another like me shows up (my nephew is also Dan Holohan), I'm going to switch my nickname to The Original Dan Holohan.

Between My father, son and 2 cousins that is just in my family. There are 4 others with in 20 miles not related. Now my second son wants to change his name to Charles when he turns 18, of course his brother wants to change his to Bob or Fred so things will stay even then. lol
