Spirovent trouble

Hello Wallies-Anyone have any problems with a spirovent not eliminating air from a system?  We put in a new boiler in June and seems I still cant get all the air purged from the system.  After power purging, its ok for a few days but thats it.  Job is piped pumping away with 3 zone valves, (2 zones cfbb, 1 zone indirect), #30 expansion tank, 329 water feeder (piped under spirovent),  Spirovent is 1".  I posted pics of this job on the wall but cant seem to find them.   . Thanks.

    Dawn it...

Add one ounce of Dawn liquid detergent, and say good bye to Mr. Bubble.

    Seriously.

    It acts as a surfactant...

releasing bubble tension, and causing the bubble to be easier trapped by the aglomulator in the micro bubble resorber.

I've used it half a dozen times, including my own personal system, and have not a peep out of it since.

    Dawn, eh?

    Hey Mark,

Interesting tip I may have to pull out one day.

Where do you recommend adding it? Pop the top of the spirovent and a few drops there or?

    Thanks,

    Scott K

I carry a small Silver King force hand pump and a bucket...

I drain a gallon or two out of the boiler, squirt in the detergent, mix it up and pump it back in. In a pinch, I've drained the pressure off the boiler, and pulled a relief valve and poured it in there. Whatever is the easiest for you.

It beneficially raises the pH of the boiler fluid and is antibacterial.

    PSI?

Whats the system pressure (cold) and height from boiler to top radiation?

    Could be under pressurized

    Dirt

Or flux could be trapped in spirovent head. I usually put a cap on the spiro when starting up new system and flush/ refill and then put spiro into action. Do you ever hear the vent releasing air?

    How would "Dawn" help?

once you get rid-of the bubbles,, how do you get rid-of the Dawn?

Sounds like a good system flush,,, why not just use Rhomar and be done with-it?

Use-to use dishwashing detergent for  tire-to-rim seals,,, do they still?

    Pumping away......

Power purging ......... By chance , do any pipes go into a slab ? Sounds like a heating pipe leak if the system keeps going airbound .

I think Kev is on the right

track here. Two zone cfbb, pumping away should clean up real quick. Check your spirovent.
