Why is my radiator quiet?

I recently had to replace a couple of radiators on my single pipe system..  I salvaged two units with 2" NPT tappings at the bottoms and bushed them to 1.5" to match my valves.  There's got to be a good sized puddle in the bottom of each rad, but they don't bang or anything.  Why?

Is there a better way to do it than using a reducing bushing?  Even an offset bushing from 2" to 1.5" wouldn't really have room for much of an offset.

  • Piping is adequate Size.?

Probably because the the pipe size of 1 1/2 is large enough and the steam /condensate velocity is slow enough not to cause a problem. (Of course it maybe that you just don't have monsters in your radiator such as another poster seems to have! :)

    And you're complaining?

if it ain't broke, don't fix it!  Are they warm?  If so, then not to worry, man!
