PEX in Gravity?

ever patch in a gravity system with pex? We have a couple risers in the way of a new medicine cabinet and it sure would be easier to use pex than elbow our way around it. The system IS hooked up to a new Prestige so there is some forced circulation. Any thoughts?

  • If you're

using the Prestige pump, it's no longer a gravity system.

Keep the PEX sloping upward whenever possible; should work fine if you keep the length short. Try it out before you cover up.

    Hot water?

Seems that if the inside diameter was close, and proper support was present, I would think it would be fine. Oxygen barrier of course. Take into consideration the temp. ratings as compared to the system operation. PEX can be a wonderful thing! My 2 cents.

    Peace

There was an error rendering this rich post.

True on the pump, figured I'd toss the idea out there in case anyone has a good horror story to tell. ;-)
