goes to 1 1/4" TRV.
However, you may not need to size the valve to the pipe diameter, but the load on the radiator.

thermostatic radiator valves
Can I install these in the supply lines to my radiators if I have a gravity system with an expansion tank...(open system) or do these thermostats require a closed systme with circulation pump?
Thank you..

Why not?
The only problem you may have is finding a TRV larger than 1".0 -
Yes you can
Done it many times. Makes a real nice system.0
