Okay Wallies, I'm into reading bio's of singers and bands that I saw during my ill spent youth. At the moment I am reading Long John Baldry's bio and it reminded me of the great pipes that Kathi McDonald has.

So I was on Youtube for some nostalga and this is a good example of her pipes, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KwcKFWbuIuQ&feature=PlayList&p=A1438075FD3DF562&index=0

So, surfing on youtube I came across these two vids of another band that I saw live on the other side of the pond before moving over here. One was in 1973 and the other was in 79. I was at both these live concerts and thought how many bands would you pay money for to go and see twice? These vids might not be the best thing to go with your corn flakes on a Saturday morning, but I hope that you can smell the same petulia oil aroma that I smelled those nights ;o)

Sorry I don't know how to shorten the web link.

    Not just twice

    but five times: Bruce Springsteen!

Four of these were with the E Street Band (1981, 1984, 2000, 2009) and one was with the other band he had in the 1990s. The most recent one was in May of this year, which was also the first time The Lovely Naoko saw his show. Now she understands why I'm such a big fan. Here's a link to one of the songs from that show- which was actually written by Jimmy Cliff (they also played one by Stephen Foster):

I've seen a lot of concerts, and these five were the best.

    ooops !

I just got back home and checked the Wall to see what all of you Wallies like to listen to; and there was only Steamhead here. Yes I agree, Bruce also has a great set of pipes........but I have only seen him once, also at Wembley, London.

I wondered why there was only me and Steamhead here because I know there are many music fans here, and then I noticed that I screwed up with the links.

Honest; I don't smell the petulia oil anymore.

These are the links that I meant to post.

    And here's one

of Bruce and the band performing that Stephen Foster song- "Hard Times (Come Again No More)". This one is from the Denver show.

They taught us about Stephen Foster in grade-school music class. This song is over 150 years old- it's about the same age as Stephen Gold's original steam system! And it's still very relevant to the times we live in now. Bruce sure knows how to pick songs that he didn't write himself.

    Good Rats.....

Been a fan since the late 70s. Probably seen them dozens of times.

Saw them recently, about two weeks ago and was impressed!
Peppi Marchello who founded the band around '73 and is the lead singer, can still belt them out 64 years old.

    Good Rock and Roll.

There was an error rendering this rich post.
