Wouldn`t you want the return temp to close the valve?

John
I think Dave is correct.
The sensor should be on the return below the cross over.0 -
Yes.
I agree.
Thanks.

Ever tried those ESBE thermostatic valves available through Danfoss?
They may be a better price, and it has no probe.

OK Dave & John
You got me. Just bought a big CI for construction heat and snow melt for a MacMansion. The dealer needed the cash flow and it was almost free. The "REAL" heat will be radiant powered by solar then mod/cons.
That valve and set up would make my life easier and save a ton of plumbing.

Got a new client with a c.i. boiler suffering from condensation.
You might've guessed I'm trying to create an inexpensive and effective bypass that I can fit on some lower-cost installations and retrofits.
Unfortunately, I just got a price on the valve I wanted to use for this.
and it's gonna cost me $450/per unit.
Vaffanculo for $450.
So, it's back to the proverbial drawing board for me.

It would, Dave, thank you.
I had considered using that very unit but was trying to avoid using a three-way valve.
I see I may have to.

John, there was a valve that Weil Mclain used with thermostatic
control in it for boiler protection. I think it was on the HE or VHE boilers. I think it was made by Taco??? cast body. Tim0 -
We use White-Roger's motorised valves of 1/2 the diameter of the return line, in the bypass line. We control it with a snap disc set for 130F on the return to the boiler. It is cheap, works well and so far 9 years, not one snap disc or motorised valve has been replaced!0 -
What's that?
A little 24volt zone-type valve wired right to the transformer switched by the snap disc aquastat?
