OT building question

let it breathe, foregoing the vapor barrier. My concern about the barrier on the garage is that wet vehicles, tires and snow clearing equipment really can put a lot of moisture in the air in a short time. The moisture shouldn't affect the clapboard since the joints provide ventilation.

I am considering claboard (ship board) siding over my stucco garage. It has ply, tar, mesh, and stucco. About 9 years old, insulated, rocked & painted. Question is, do I need a vapor barrier behind the wood siding or just go over the stucco? Wood siding will be stained & sealed on both sides prior to installing it.

agree with terryT
and furthermore, a vapour barrier on the outside (cold) surface is almost guaranteed to create condensation problems, which you really don't want...Br. Jamie, osb
