Baseboard making a lot of noise

If anyone contemplates installing baseboard (usually a budget issue), I am all the more inclined to recommend constant circulation with outdoor reset. This eases the expansion and contraction cycles and the water temperature adjusts very gradually, not from 70 to 180 in a minute or two.
Because you are coming off the steam system, you have water at least 180F if not 212+.
For this reason, I would even more recommend a 3-way or 4-way mixing valve and constant circulation or if via a plate heat exchanger, good valve control geared to outdoor reset.
This will keep expansion and contraction cycles to a minimum, increase comfort and likely save energy by sipping hot boiler water over time rather than gulping and cycling the boiler.

Baseboard Making Noise
Last year we added on to our house and the contractor installed baseboard heat off off of our steam system into the two new rooms. Our steam system works great (followed Dan's book over the years, and had a profesional recommended by Dan to give it a work over). The baseboard works fine too. However, lately the baseboard is making a lot of noise. Any ideas?0 -
Base Board Noise
Running water sound .... There is air in the loop. It needs to be bleed.
A tinkinling noise ... The Slides in the base board that glide on the rack needs to be adjusted.
A poping or creaking noise..... The holes or pipe passages need to be open more.
A snaping or hammering noise.... It's breaking steam and the supply water needs to be tempered down. There was an error rendering this rich post.
