    Count me in too.

I'm starting today, partly for myself but also in support of my son who has real weight issues and is up for a possible gastric bypass at the age of 18. My wife is in too. I'm going to measure up in a bit. WW

    I was thinking

about how best to approach this.

I thought I would compile the email list of all those choosing to participate and send a weekly email of accountability, weigh-in, and encouragement. I am "waffling" on whether or not to use The Wall as the forum since it is Dan's site and that over 7-8 months, that thread could get bogged down and people would lose interest.

I was just starting out this morning with everyones email but I am open to suggestions. This is a group effort after all.

    Thanks Alan for the support.

    Regards,

    Me too..

I'm hovering around 230 for the past few years and it is KILLING my already bad back. They say the best thing for a bad back is a strong stomach, but I would settle for NO stomach. Would like to be down to around 200. I'm shooting for the "looks better naked than with clothes on" look (but if I achieve it, you'll just have to take my word for it!) Trust me; right now that is definately NOT the case!

I'll donate one of my really cool "Rocky's Heating" shirts to the biggest loser. (size small of course).

    once volunteered:

"I weigh 205 totally nude. I stand 5'10" totally nude. I am no longer in
    demand, totally nude...

I yewsta be 2 inches taller, but I wore it off walkin' back and forth to the
    truck, fergettin' stuff...

I am into bodybuilding, but only between my pelvis and my nipples... This
has caused me to become a roll model. An Italian roll model. Totally nude,
my body looks like an Italian roll. Plump in the middle, tapering to blunted
    points on the ends...

Ellen Rose now requires that the lights be turned out before I enter the room
for "relations". 'Cause once she starts that laiffin', she can't stop, and I haffta
    leave the room...

Hey. Why you wanna make me out to be a big Palooka? I ain't a Pollock!
Ah'm an Irish-Kraut-Dago. Mostly Dago. A true American mongrel that
looks Italian... Wit' a musstash... Though my last name is Hierholtzer, I look
like a pepperoni salesman. People think Ah'm lyin' when I tell 'em my name.
So I tell 'em that's the name the FBI gimme after the trial...

And yeah, Deniro looks like me. I ain't got a mole tho... He's got a mole
    don't 'e?...

Ah'm gonna get one'a them fancy highender camriz pretty soon. Then Ah'll
take some shots 'a myself and put 'em up on the wall... Hey, if ya like me,
then good fer you. And if ya don't, then maybe you gotta turn the lights out...

Either way, I AM Frank from Philadel-phi-ay.

What a sin, oh Tin, to ever lose our grin, from fretting about what might have
    bin...

That has nuttin' to do wit' what we bin tawkin' about. Does it? It just popped
    into my head...

Well, I gotta go. Gotta get a shower. Rough day. And I don't want Ellen
Rose to see me totally nude at this computer. I hate when she starts that
fallin' down laiffin' an' all. It really ain't necessary...

I’ve been away from the wall traveling and enjoying my soon to end early retirement. (I was starting to go crazy and decided to get back to work). This is a great post and I wish to share my successes.

I went to see the doc in March 2007 for my mid 40's exam and got the big speech on my weight, besides the finger and a prescription to Zocor.

That’s when my eyes were opened (literally, remember the finger?) and decided to change. Now living in a warm climate, I can longer hide under the bulky clothes and blame it on winter gain.

I started my self-imposed and regulated diet and 13 months later, I am down from 242 to 198. (That’s 5 inches off my waist).

At 6', my goal is to get to and maintain between 175 and 180. (34” waist)

Here is how I did it:

1.Cut down on portions and overeating

2.No more than one diet soda a day (Even though they are diet, the metabolism is tricked and not sure how to handle artificial sweeteners)

3.No snacking, cookies, chips, etc. (go for a low salt granola snack)

4.No salts added to food in my control

5.No Fast Foods!!!! (subway makes healthy 6” subs (You go Jerrod)

    6.Drink lots of water!!!

7.I get out and walk or ride a bike whenever I can

With what I did above, my beer and wine intake that I enjoy so much never suffered. In addition, my cholesterol came down and no more drugs.

    Down 6 pounds,

But I used the "flu" diet. You know, "Everybody out, all exits, no waiting." Wow. Don't recommend that diet.

    Minus 3

I'm only minus 3 (259) but that is after a week vacation in Key West. It's hard to lose while on vacation! I have been eating better and exercising every day.

Speaking of Key West, we ran into fellow Wallie and good friend John Perry, Jr. and his lovely wife at Schooner Wharf Bar last Friday. Small world! - DF

I started my exercise plan today. I plan on starting out slowly so; I drove by the store that sells sweat pants. Next week I plan on pulling into the parking lot. Next month you never know, I might venture in to check out what colors they offer.

    Self actualization

Commendable efforts all you big losers. While you all are trying to shed a few, I'm struggling with the following:

    Self actualization

Lack of egotism, differentiate means from ends, solve rather than complain, filter out corrosive effects of peer pressure

and I'm afraid I'm still a grass hopper.

    Wow!

You guys are doing great. Ive been doing double duty dieting and going to the gym and the pool. I've tried to lose weight in the past but had trouble. This time my wife and I have joined our son who was told lose weight or get surgery for a gastric bypass. My son has lost 24 lbs. My wife 15 lbs, and I've lost 22 lbs. Down from 240 to 218. My knees have stopped hurting. It's great. WW

    Where is all this weight

going? Must be a lot of new speed bumps out there. I am down to 214 from 229. But the Jeep still self steers into Dunkin parking lots. Strangest thing and I have complained to the Dealer Service Dept and they say it is a national problem.

    ahhh

Unfortunately, I am not a loser... and it sucks

I started running more hills, and lifting dumbells. I GAINED 5 lbs..... although my fancy scale does say my fat% went down.

Hard to limit calories when working........

    Maybe the slowdown will help
