What Are You Listening To?

Mark Hunt_4 Member Posts: 68
I thought you were a White Lion fan....

Metal: Accept, Metallica(old), Judas Priest(old), Saxon(old), Raven, Riot

Prog: Genesis(Peter Gabriel days), Yes, King Crimson, PFM, E.L.P

Rock: UFO, Thin Lizzy, Aerosmith(old), more UFO

I've been listening to more jazz lately, thanks to Ken Secor and you may hear Mozart, Beethoven or Bach booming from the vehicle. You want to kick start your morning commute? Get Holst: The Planets and crank up Mars:The Bringer of War.

Who Is In The CD Player?

Who helps you get through the day? Favorite band? Musician? Just a fun post to occupy me as I continue rehabbing from spinal surgery...

    CD's

I don't really listen to CD's at home anymore, mostly just while driving. Currently taking residence in my six CD changer: Saxon - Denim and Leather; Jimmy Buffett - A1A; Fugazi - Repeater; Earth to Andy - Chronicle Kings; Drowning Pool - Sinner; Roxy Music - Avalon

    A Train

Right now at 7:35 at night no one is home and as I am reading The Wall a freight train just went by. I am about a quarter mile from the tracks. I like the sound because I grew up around the corner and we played in the woods around the tracks, it always takes me back in time. I only tend to listen to the radio in the vehicle, either an oldies station or conservative talk radio.

    Thanks for asking Chris

Paul, I tried to open them? Duh on me. Just listened to Led Zeppelin "Gallow's Pole from III, In the car is Liquid Tension Experiment (think Return to Forever if they rocked) It's John Petrucci, Mike Portnoy & Jonathan Rudess of Dream Theater & bass God Tony Levin on bass. This is some of the wailingest stuff you will ever hear. Try this out, it's Yes, Rush & Al Dimeola rolled into one

Mostly listen to Sirius on my 144 mile round trip commute, but check out the lineup for the 7th annual Ponderosa Stomp next month in New Orleans...www.ponderosastomp.com..Dave Bartholomew, Mac Rebennack,Lazy Lester, and a lot of old-old-school rockers. Lots of history behind these little-known people.

    tunes

At work, no music, ever. In the truck on the road it is classic rock, only have am/fm radio.

At home classical music, like Mozart, Bach, or Beethoven. No,really.

In my 1986 Olds Cutlass I got a CD player. Right now I have Muddy Waters, BB King, The Cars, Foghat, The Eagles, Supertramp, George Thorogood, and Roy Buchanan.

Never had music when I was a kid. The old man never wanted any noise. Didn't even have a stereo in the house. Even to this day I feel funny about TURNING IT UP!

    Bill,

We're only a few years apart, yet led such different ways.

My parents THOUGHT they didn't like "my music"...until they started listening.

My mom used to come home and catch me playing Jean Luc Ponty and just asked that I turn it down a little. Dad loves the guitar music...and was partial to the nicer jazz that would be playing in the car or on the stereo when he came walking in.On the boat...I listened to his Italian Operas...and he listened to everything from Steely Dan to Third Eye Blind.

The BEST thing that I remember...3 generations of my family at a Jimmy Buffett concert.

My parents, My brother and sister, along with my niece. (and YES...they were partying like the regular folks the whole time!)at Great Woods ....late 90's. Chris

    Yes, the Briitsh Actor!

The song was first recorded by Richard Harris on his album A Tramp Shining in 1968 and was released as a single. It was an unusual single, running for more than seven minutes, with a long, climactic orchestral break. Harris's topped the music charts in Europe and peaked at number two on the U.S. charts.

Harris sings the song's final chorus at an elevated pitch with the top of Harris's falsetto range.

Throughout his recording Harris can be heard using the incorrect possessive form, "MacArthur's Park". Webb has said he tried correcting Harris during re-takes, but gave up when he simply could not sing the correct words.

    It's a delight! 1968

    Jason Becker...

...in the mid 1980's , Yngwie Malmsteen introduced a classical musical influence into heavy rock...to a much more aggresive degree that had been done before ( Brian May , Richie Blackmore...EVH ... prob. many more ) . Even at this " nth " degree of difficulty , other guitar players seemed to emerge...and Jason Becker was one of those. He was diagnosed with Lou Gerigs disease ( please excuse my spelling in this post ). He brought a different perspective to this style of playing however...during his healthy years. And to be shot down by something like this at the ripe old age of 20....many find it justified to say the he may be the greatest guitar player of our time. I was a fan of his before the disease , and he has my vote. -M
