Cancer

My wife Sylvia passed away today from cancer after a 2 year and 9 month battle. She wanted to die at home and she did through the help of hospice. She fought it to the end and was up and around until last Saturday even though she was using a walker to get around and was on oxygen and an IV pump. I was told that if I took the amount of pain medication she was on it would kill me.
I will forever gratefull to my sister Dotty an RN without whom I could never have gotten through the past 4 days without her help. I would have given up and put her in the hospital. Also, Sylvia's sister Pauline who drove 200 miles round trip once a week to take her to her doctors appointments and stay and visit with her so I could keep working. The last 5 weeks she needed 24 hour care which I did the nights and weekends. I am so relieved that she is not suffering and feel guilty because I do feel relived. But I know that the sadness that she is gone I have not realized yet. I know my worse days are coming
I'm so proud of both sisters and my wife who never complained unless her pain was out of control. And thanks to all the Dr's and nurses.
There are a lot of wonderful people in this world! She was only 52.
I apologize for using this forum for this.

Prayers and thoughts for you
and your family every day. My husband, Jerry was on Hospice when he passed 1 1/2 years ago. I also work as a hospice nurse. You have no need to feel guilty for your relief. She is out of her pain and struggle and in a much better place. And never hesitate to use this as a venue for release of your pain. It will get better but it will never go away and you would not want it to. Let me tell you that these people have been a stronghold for me whenever I have needed it. Peace be with you every day. I feel your pain
I have no words to express myself . Those who fight these battles with cancer have my prayers . When my wife was told of her cancer , I could see the her change to a warrior . She won her fight with God's help. We must join together , to defend this monster who steals our love ones. My prayer go out to you in your time of loss .
