vibrating noise seems to be coming from oil line?
Hi All
Great site you guys have here!
I have a customer who has a vibrating oil line it seems? Its a Well Mclain Gold boiler,is it possible something has become stuck in the line and/or is there something which could fail and make this noise on the oil end ? Everything is workin fine other than this vibrating noise, all valves are in full open position.
thanks for any and all ideas and suggestions!0 -
If this is a new
sound check for plugged oil filters oil lines and pump strainer, if overhead line very common problem and take Eds sujestions and secure with an isolation clamp or hanger something to take up the vibration.0 -
i also had this happen to me. we put in a new oil line and it was humming all the way back to the oil tank. i used a 3/8 no-burst braided oil line at the burner and that took care of it.0 -
also...
make sure the oil line isn't touching any other plumbing somewhere -- such as a water line or steam return line. Amazing how even one contact can transmit the sound which might otherwise be inaudible through the whole dang house.Br. Jamie, osb

make
sure the burner fan is true and in balance. Harmonics travel. Is this 2 or one pipe?0 -
THANKS GUYS!
I told them the options you guys gave me here,Iam not an oil guy so I dont know much about oil and fairly new to the business in alittle over 2 years, the boiler is 6-8 years old and this recently started making noise..
But now they want to convert from oil to gas possibly to save money as wel as its cleaner etc..I have no idea if they make a conversion kit and/or what it intails installing one, I was told not to get involved in installing a conversion kit if they made one,Id like to know if anyone has any experience in installing one or if they even make one thats worth it.
Might be easier to just replace with new boiler.
Thanks again! Very Much appreciated!0
