As i read all of the comments that all of you made to my dad about him leaving it only makes me realize more and more wut kind of dad i have and truthfully i already knew that he was the best. and listening to all of you talk about the band of brothers, i think that he was a very lucky guy to have everyone on here as a friend and i know mark and my dad are best friends and i quote from mark " he is my best friend and if i did not mention it already he is my best friend" and i know that my dad looks at mark the same way and after the way that i was feeling the few days before he left and then considering i felt even worse when he got on that c130 and actually flew away i was relieved to come home and look at all these messages that were posted and it put a smile on my face almost instintly. and i would just like to thank everyone once again for all the wonderfull things that they said.

Duty Calls
I will be heading to the desert soon. It was a tough decision to volunteer to go, it affects many people who are important to me. But I feel it was the right thing to do. I could not bear the thought of my guard friends going without me. I can't give specific details as to where I am going till I have boots on the ground there. I am a HVAC troop, so I will still be providing indoor climate comfort (tent city) to my "customers". I will have e-mail and internet access so I can stay in touch with family and friends ( Not like when my Army Granpa walked out the door in WWII and went to Africa and my Grandma did not see him for 2 years). I will try and post on how our daily life is over there. I do not see building any fancy pump panels in my near future.
Please keep me and my unit in your thoughts and prayers.
I am very proud to be able to serve my country,
TSGT Darin Cook NYANG
P.S. It will be the first deer season missed in 25 years. Damn!!!0 -

Deploying same time.
I am heading over for the second time with your rotation. Good chance we will meet. I know I will be with some NYANG troops.
In 2004 I was there in the summer. This time it will be much cooler. I hope you can keep the reversing valves in the ECU's in working order.

Glad we able to visit with you 2 weeks ago
YOU are a hero to me and my family. It is an honor to have you as a friend. In volunteering to go, you have gone above and beyond your duty. I will pray every morning for your personal safety until you return. We got a big Long Island Fishing trip planned when you return...we never got a chance this year. As I told you and Markie, if he gets jammed up business-wise or otherwise, I'll hop in the Jeep with my tools and a case of beer and bail him out. YOU! my friend are the true heroes...NOT the athletes, the politicians, or the newspapermen. I love you brother. Last, you WILL be fine. You will come back even stronger and with great stories. Best of luck
to you and all your comrades.
Keep alert and your wits about you. Personally I wish we had stayed in Afghanistan and gotten Bin laden before moving on, this is taking too long and is keeping too many people like yourself away from loved ones.
Trust no one but yourself and your gut instinct.0 -
Hat in hand, hand over heart
Darin-
Pride and gratitude do not begin to cover it. Your sacrifice of being away from family and friends will not be forgotten. Sorry I could not make it out there to see you off in person.
Mr. Hunt and many others I know pray for your safe return- of men like you freedom is made.
Godspeed Darin!

p.s. As a former "kiwi" with the NH ANG (157th ARW, fill 'er up!) I got to know a few of the NYANG "Boys from Syracuse" way back when. Best of the best!0 -
And to you, Joe
Between you and Darin, our men and women overseas are in the best hands. Thank you for serving. Truly.

What you are doing is makes everything else seem insignificant. You are a MAN and my friend. You will be missed by your family at N&S Supply. Please drop me an email from time to time, keep your head down and Fight The Good Fight!

In support of your mission
No better way to blast the heat into oblivion then by pointing the chilling AC machines at it. Your sense of duty and your service to the nation is something to be mightily proud of. I certainly am.
I'll be dutifully thinking about you, Darin and Joe, while I pray for your safety and that of all your brothers in arms.
Anything we can do for your families here?
