    Update

    Hey guys,
Well, I did as the rep said, and still the same thing. I did have a chance to getting closer to pin pointing the noise, after cycling a few more times. It only happens after burner is on, the "simmering" sounds like it coming from the base of the flue, right where the condensate drains or the bottom of the heat exchanger. Stay Tuned!

    Caleffi Solar

Heh Glenn, you mentioned Solar. We are just completing a new catalogue on Solar components. Here is a pdf. Including some new delta t controllers. The literature will be distributed out soon. If you are at the Cleveland Exhibition in July, we'll have it all on display.

    45 gpm in 11/4\" pipe?

The noise may well be velocity related. To stay within the recognized standard of 4fps you would need 2" pipe to handle 45 gpm.

    Update again

    Well,
I wish I had more info about this but it's been a hit & miss kind of thing. After running it for a while, and after adjusting the firing rate by clocking the meter to match the input, checking the gas pressure again, The "sound" is only right after light off, and has diminished quite a bit. It's more evident on a call for DHW, because of high fire. On top of all of this, I do have some good news. I checked my gas consumption for the last month compared to the month before. Hot water usage is about the same demand, which is pretty routine. All this plus turning on & off to dial it in, and turning it on every time one of my buddies shows up to drink beer & here it run. The gas consumption was LESS THAN HALF! with the old CGA-4. Yee-haw!!!

    How about..????

Someone may have suggested this and didn't read all posts but... How about shutting down the makeup water feed to units?. You may be pulling a little air in somewhere and it may be hanging out in H.E. If your pressure falls then you have an leak issue somewhere.

We used to have problems with the old grundfos screw in air bleeders @ shafts.

Ineresting to see what you come up with. Hope you keep enough beer near.

    oops

I didn't realize how bad my last post was. I meant that my gas consumption is less than half with my new Prestige compared to the old boiler. Sorry about that. I also meant to "hear" it not "here". Must have been in a hurry.

    Next time

Wish I wasn't saying this but I will try next time. I have those things in stock too. Some jobs, price starts to become an issue so you start making trade-offs. I did get this guy to go for a TN4 system.

minimal circulation if any when both units fire up

It's not circulation noise because there is barely any circulation. When the boilers fire, I can feel the heat start to back down the return pipe. Thats why it goes off on E25 error code - heating up too quickly.

I have a jobsite meeting with Grundfoss and Triangle tube in a few days. I'm sure will figure something out.
