I am not an oil heat guy. But in 2003 I was in Alaska doing a fair sized job with an oil boiler. I was in over my head. I drove 30 miles into town and looked up Alan's number. I called him and in 5 minutes he made it so simple I almost felt foolish.

I also felt very, very grateful.

I already knew everything I needed to know. Alan helped me see it.

Judging by what I see of Alan, he doesn't even remember it. Giving people like him seldom remember their good deeds. They don't do it for recognition. They do it because of what is in their hearts.

Alan better never need a heart transplant. There are none big enough to replace his.
