I have accurate architect's drawings with ceiling heights and windows. I will start working on the "official" heat calc tomorrow.
This last winter was mild. We found that the first floor boiler which is only designed to heat the first floor (700 feet of suspended tube and 6 radiators) actually supplied most of the heat for the whole house. The heat gently rose up the main stair. The second floor furnace rarely came on (granted we kept the thermostat at a nippy 65). But, when we had truly cold snaps (say 25 degrees), the temperature in the livingroom would drop to 60 and stay there. Thanks for you help. I will report back when I have done the heat loss calculation.0
