I wanted to get the version R for my radiant loops, but the plumbing supply gave me a couple of the C's. the different models are B, 60-100F; C, 80-120F; STD, 100-145F; and R 80-180F.

I wanted the R so i could turn it all the way to 180 for filling the loops and purging. also i wanted the max temp to be high enough to deal with the r value of the floors in some zones.

ok so my question:

the plumbing supply distributor said that i can use a C as an R by simply removing a small plastic piece that keeps the dial from turning all the way in one direction or another. I don't want to break the seal on the top of the knob without knowing for sure that's correct. so should i keep the C's i have and break the seal and break off a little plastic tab? or do i have to purchase a couple R's because they have some other differences besides that?

i am sorta wondering what the benifit would really be....

to You the habby homeowner. i have a B sparky mixer on my radiant...do you have like Super Thick slabs, deeply buried tubing? if so a porortional miixer might not be as good as an investment as an I series -R from Taco.
