Another vaporstat question...

This is probably for Steamhead, if he is reading...

You have convinced me to go to a vaporstat with my downsized boiler. Which one should I ask my contractor to supply? Some go 0-4lb. while the ones for vapor systems go 0-16oz. Also, some break on pressure rise, etc. I checked State Supply and they list the following Honeywell vaporstats: L408A1157, 1132, 1131, 1149, 1046 and 1053. Thanks again.

  • two choices

If you are absolutely certain that the whole system will fill with steam at about a half pound of pressure, the 0-1 PSI vaporstat gives really good control, where the 0-4 PSI one isn't as sensetive operating under a pound of steam pressure.

Thanks Noel. Should I get one that breaks on pressure? I am thinking that would be the logical choice for a simple single pipe non-vapor system.
  • breaks on pressure RISE

as opposed to makes on pressure rise.

Correct, you want the one that breaks on pressure rise.
