    I think if you re-read

Constantin's post, you will see he agrees with you that OD reset has more benefit with CI radiators and radiant floor heat (I presume slab type for high mass). My take anyway!

Recruitor...don't let parts availabilty for the BOILER drive your decision. If you have a service issue, it will likely be with the burner component.

    Fix Your Lease

Usually some energy savings are achieved by having those who use the oil pay for it. Have you considered changing the terms of the lease in the future?

    Recruiter,

I'm going to have to go with all HERE and say that Outdoor Reset will BENEFIT your cause.

I don't think enough of the folks you spoke with understand it well....at all! Cast Iron radiators are the bees knees for reset!

Think about it this way. Without something to tell your boiler that it doesn't have to have the "gas pedal" to the floor ALL THE TIME !!!, that is just how it will run. With outdoor reset, it will let the temperature control the gas pedal instead of the poor boiler trying to control the "speed" by using the brakes.

On warmer days, you just don't need the same temperature water that you do on "design days". The only way the boiler will know is if you TELL it.

I hope you reconsider, and thank the supply house guy that agreed with us. ( He knows the truth!) Chris

  • You can easily get a 40 degree temperature swing using reset with baseboard, assuming it's installed for a 180 degree design SWT.

    What's not effective about that?

This is a great thread --it shows great intervention by heating

experts saving a homeowner from bogus local advice. I'm a homeowner who's been helped alot by this forum. I've had some of the same experience as you, and I was often urged to oversize the boiler, use inferior valves, avoid any technology that might increase efficiency. It goes beyond a utility company just wanting you to use more of their fuel. Outdoor reset and other controls have a learning curve that many heating companies don't want to bother with. For me the problem is once I hear someone tell me that for hot water systems they size the boiler by the existing radiation or some other fallacy, I start to question their overall competency. Best of luck with your project.

    buderus

Recuiter go with the buderus even with out the out door reset it is in my opion the best oil fired boiler out there besides some other euro stuff, the buderus has better features then you will see from other american boiler manafactures ,being a super breee to clean no combustion chamber and refactory to replace and price wise they are only a few bucks more then other boilers ,excellent cast iron also .I have installed at least a dozen oil fired buderus in the past year or 2 and not one issue and all where very happy with there lower oil comsumpition. On another note i have removed old converted boioler and installed a properly sized buderus and the fuel savings where nothing short of amazing 1 st oil deliverly on auto fill was off by over 250 gallaon HO where happy .peace and good luck clammy
