    Hmmmmm?

Is Chris is your "plumber" from other posts? As a Homeowner, is Chris describing your job?

    Regards,

    Dan is the man!

I agree, I have called Dan many times with questions and he always has an answer. Not much he hasn't seen. Also I am not saying Htp hasn't had there problems, but I have been to many jobs that are not installed correctly. Now that I think about it most of the boilers I see installed round here are not installed correctly. Reading the directions will save a lot of headaches.

Don't approve of your comments, Paul,...

If you can't say something nice...
And no, I’m not his plumber!

But I agree wholeheartedly with the plight this person is going thru. Once again we have people who install and have had serious problems and once again we have manufacturer’s reps and to quote MR Delahunt, "they lie," which has been my experience and the experience of the many people I come into contact with, out in the "real world."

Did I notice MR factory says there is a procedure for labor reimbursement? Another lie perpetuated by someone with a vested interest in selling only HTP and BW products.

    Speaking from personal experience…
With over thirty some years in construction…
    With multiple licenses…
    Former plumbing inspector…

    Not really a paradox...

Sheesh... This thread is still going after I've been gone for about a week.

Not really a paradox... I bought a used 4 door Ford Aspire with like 3000 miles on it in I believe 1996. At the time I knew it was the Ford with the best warrantee history. I also knew that it was made by a Korean Company - which is in fact Kia. Also, given my financial situation and that I was single at the time. A nice small replacement car was just the ticket.

Of course the warrantee history was not quite as good as a Honda - or several other Japanies cars. But, for a used car it had a better warrantee history than most other cars on the market.

I will note that Kia never introduced cars in America until after Ford discontinued importing relabled Kia product.

I have had one warrantee claim on it. The windshield whiper arm came loose (I thought the wiper motor had failed), and the dealer tightened the appropriate screw. This has never had to be fixed again.

This has been a very reliable car (several hundred thousand miles on it) with only minor and mormal wear and tear items. My one grip at the moment is that you can no longer get good tires for it in the original size (165-70r13); and all you can get are cheap tires that do not grip the road and wear well. It looks like I will have to put on 175-70r13's.

I tend to get 30 to 42 MPG on it depending on driving conditions and weather (the 30 MPG is always in cold winter weather - and I typically average high 30's to low 40's MPG's during the summer in either city or highway driving).

So, a car with a good warrantee history when I bought it - highly efficient as well. Spending a lot more money would not have gotten me much improvement in those factors.

That sounds a lot like a Viessmann boiler as well, and sounds like the kinds of same things I was looking for.

As for my next car: Truth be told, I've been looking more at Toyota instead of the Kia line; along with browsing a dozen other lines.

Oh, for completeness. A deer got me in the fall of 2001 and totaled the Aspire. Since it was largly sheet metal damage and the mechanicals were in great shape (I take care of them).... I bought the car back from the insurance company for $200, had the auto body shop pound out some of the sheet metal and replace the corner light and corner headlight, and then had it reinspected by the State Patrol - and I now had a $500 car (after getting a $2200 insurance check) and could drop some coverage from my insurance policy too as they are never going to pay me for a totaled car again. It is now a really low cost car - good for driving to work and errends - with some banged up sheet metal (with slightly mismatched lacquer).

My other vehicle - which I don't drive as much - is a full sized conversion van - also in excellent mechanical condition. Also purchased used - and in this case the mechanicals have been replaced or fixed up. A lot cheaper than a new one.

My plans are to replace the car at some point - and keep the van for the 25% of times when I need a nicer (not dented) and larger vehicle. Besides, I can fit lots of stuff for home repairs and improvements into it.

Too bad I could not find a good used Viessman Vitodens 200 and Vitocel water tank.
