    11.5% CO??

You mean CO2 right? Carbon DIoxide.

And how can you guarantee that a flue gas is condensing at 11.5% CO2?

I don't get too excited about paying "extra" for an option like outdoor reset, manuf. do this to get the base price of the boiler down, Look at the bottom line and compare that way. I like to find a reliable product and stick with it. In the past 2 years I installed approx. 10 munchkins(they should have picked a better name), and have 2 problems, on one we had a helicle leak at the eco switch and in a 1 week peroid we had 2 outdoor sensors go bad. other than that every one is happy with their fuel bills and the operations. They are so small we build a 24 in. high table to sit them on... Barry

I have now installed the Ultra, Munchkin & triangle tube Prestige, so far my favorite is the Prestige, water content, stainless, price of repair parts etc helps in this decision. JMHO. Tim.

Hi Barry, yes the concern is how long do these last, I have had a few fan failures, the thing splits and jams, everyone reasures me they have been fixed. But the conceern is just look at the warranties, one year is a couse for concern regardless of the efficency. Out door reset in radient systems, may be a big "comfort" plus versus boiler on time. I wish for the old independent I.B.R, if ever they were independent but it seems to me the reset function is more of a controller function than a nesessary boiler control, although perhaps if they could intergrate all of these features in the factory controllers and use them if you want to. I think some of the controls are very expensive, and it seems they don't have to be that way? Especially in this computer age. All of my electronic items keep going down in price but boiler controles keep going up. I particurly like the optional quick disconnects on some of the newer units, flue units, and it's left up to the installer if we are going to add vent dampers or some of the othr modules.

I like these also. I put one in a 6000 sq. ft. glass, steel and concrete archetectural wonderhouse, and found it to be easy to use. All the controls you need are built right in; and the homeowners are raving about how low the gas usage is. Someone should compile a list of mod-cons that use the Giovanni heat exchanger, and a list of the ones that are unique unto themselves.

I installed a Peerless Pinnacle (munchkin in a green box) several years ago. It ran for 30 days then started acting up. I believe the problem was in the air switch. The man/ rep came to the job & could not correct the problem and so they sent out a replacement boiler. In the end the customer was happy, but I'm a ittle disillusioned with peerless.
We installed several WM Ultras, which are all running great 5 on LP 2 on natural. The nicest installations are the ones we were able to get in early enough to vent through the roof. I have one customer complaining about a sidewall vented installation because of condensation & or ice on the wall. Part of that issue is that it's in a sheltered area where the exhaust is perhaps trapped rather than taken away by the wind. My only complaint with the WM is the wiring is very difficult to get at. Also, we asked and our local supply house started stocking the pumps these boilers require. If that 0014 goes out & a 007 is installed in it's place , it won't work.

Finally we have installed 1 Burnham Freedom & 3 Crown Bimini ( again same boiler differnet jacket) In my market
(Orange County NY) the crown is a better buy. We like this boiler a lot!! Easy to install, circulator is provided, LWCO prewired, fittings are provided for copper primary loop as prescribed- no need to worry about the 1 1/4 x 1 male adaptor- its all in the box. The venting is also provided for through the wall application. One of our installations was through the roof- also a nice package, and my supplier gave me a credit when I returned the prepackaged vent kit. The standard venting is concentric but they also can be vented with z vent, and PVC for make up air. The wiring is easily accesible , and simple.

They provide a wall mounting template which my son calls the poster. He hung one up in our basement- perhaps they should add some color to it :).

I have one customer who is unhappy with the temperature modulation. His home is baseboard heat- most of our other installs are radiant. He complains that he can't get the temperatures he wants in his home ( they like 75 degrees because of birds) I suspect that his home ( a modular) does not have enough baseboard in it The heat was installed at the factory. On my next visit I plan to look into this further, and reprogram the settings, giving him a higher minimum temperature to see if that helps.

Finally, my understsnding of the logic that is used to " match the loads" is not completely clear. The WM rep explained theirs to me - the PHD technolgy- I'm not sure how the others do it. Perhaps the crown only has associates degree technology :) I plan to find out

We still work on some that have been in for 20+ yrs. Can't imagine it but out of I think 10 there are still 4 on the site in decent working order! Amazing. We have serviced them for the last 14 yrs or so. Tim

Tim- Where are you located? I'm in Central Mass and I can't find anyone to install a Triangle. Met w/ c. 10 pros and they look at me funny when I ask about TT. Even the supply house tha carries it is unfamiliar?
