Save the date and come join in

Come and see the lovely Western Mass area and eat, drink, and talk (Jerry's favorite thing to do). I am posting this early so you can save the date. Hoping to see some of you here. .....

    great mini vacation area

If you have never been to this part of Massachusetts it makes a great place to visit. Our county has the highest per capita artisan population in the country. Shelburne Falls is known for its famous Bridge of Flowers. We are right on the edge of the Berkshires. Tanglewood is about an hour away. Antique shoppers heaven. What else can I say. It is also a great place to live. ....

    cash

That is what the $15.00 per person covers. Bring anything to drink if you don't want beer. And sometimes people would bring a small dessert or appetizer or whatever. but you can just bring yourself ready to eat, drink and be merry! ....

    Half in...

    Ruthe,

Consider Jaye and I 50% "in." We have some re-arranging to do and it may be me solo. Jaye's mom needs full time care, and July is our month to assume those duties.

Maybe I'll stay home with Mom and let Jaye come?

My wife and I are looking into camp grounds in the area. Put us down for 4, will bring the kids, though I'm not sure they should be exposed to such an UGLY group. Of course, they've been around me for 15 or 16 years.

    Ruthe, et al

There is a possibility I can make this if two things happen:

    1. If I can get a group of contractors together for a roundtable meeting the night before, probably in the Boston area. I'd like to pick the brains of business owners about business issues (before too much alcohol is consumed). The NEWS would pick up the food tab if approved by the boss.

    2. If #1 is approved by the boss.

I can probably come in on Friday and head home Saturday night (sobering up on the plane, of course).

If anyone is interested in #1, then #2 might work.

    Talk to us John....

What topics ...and what will it take for you to show?

For God's sake...make the next day a day off! Why rush with the folks that are going to be there?

The work can wait a day....The "crux of the biscuit" is to enjoy yourself..Why tempt fate?

Just go for it Bunky...Do what will make Jerry smile down upon us! JMHO....J.C.A.

    Friday meeting

NO work would be conducted on Saturday. I propose to meet with some people on Friday night. Maybe we could do it at a hotel near Ruthe's place. I just don't want anyone to incur any added expense if they wanted to come down the night before. But it would be kinda cool.

    Yeah, I agree.

But I don't agree with your wanting to get back so soon.

Hell, bring the family and... "Make It in Massachusettes" (Thank you Governer Dukakis)

    Just enjoy... Chris

    Here's the deal

I usually host 4-6 roundtables a year where I sit around a table and ask contractors to talk about key issues facing their businesses, i.e. employee hiring, utlity competition, making a decent profit, etc. I then jot down their thoughts and turn it into an article. If there is time on my visit I like to do a ridealong with a tech on a couple of jobs, too. All of this gets reported in The News. I haven't had a Northeast roundtable so this would be nice. But it is all dependent on whether the boss sees "value" in the trip. If you want to meet and chat for a couple of hours on Friday the 13th, drop me an e-mail offline. Thanks.

    Location?

Where are you considering holding this? I really hope not Boston area since Fri night traffic is a nightmare around Boston. .. Springfield, Greenfield, Ma or Hartford, CT largest areas around western Mass. Hartford not real fun commute on Fri night but for city oriented folk it is probably a piece of cake. ... ..Ruthe
