is my preferred method, but the pedestal will work of course..they both accomplish the same thing.

waterline difference in new boiler
Since the waterline height in my new boiler is going to be about 22 inches compared to the roughly 47 inches in my existing monster, I take it that I can either create a inverted U type section to create a false waterline or put the boiler on a cement pedastal. Are there any downsides to the pedastal idea, which seems like the simpler way to go.
Thanks

It depends on what you have for a system. If a simple one pipe, it won't matter much. If two pipe or something like a Hoffman system, it will matter a lot.0 -
If it's a Hoffman
(like mine) try to set it so that the new waterline matches the old one, or as close as possible. They work great, but are a bit techy about water levels.Br. Jamie, osb

Thanks for your help with my first question about the waterline in my one pipe system. I now realize that I have to get the waterline above 38 inches to be above the wet return. If I put it at 40 inches then the "A" distance to the main will be 23 inches which is a little below the recommended "A" dimension. Will this cause a problem?0
