Steamheads

Ok, So I change out a steam boiler for a new customer but before I do I ask him a lot of Questions. Do you get a lot of banging, do all the radiators work, are you comfortable Ect..

He tells me that most of the radiators don't get hot right away and the boiler is always running. So Off to measuring the size of all the radiators and I settle down with Dan's book to see how mant SQ feet of radiation is actually there.

The exsisting boiler is off by 125 SF. It made sence to me why the last lazy plumber did this.... Because he could use 2" pipe with the smaller boiler.

So the new boiler is in with the new 3" header and My customer wants to know why his radiators heat up so fast and what is that strange sound that the radiator vents are making.

I tried to explain that it is steam but he says the old steam didn't do that! I don't think his other boiler ever made steam. Any thoughts??

Thanks
BOB
