Hey
You just wait we'll win it all again!!
OK so maybe it will be another 70 or 80 years..LOL0 -
Sorry to sound sour....
Pardon me for putting this in some sort of perspective, but think about it....IT'S A GAME !!!!
I realise it's also a business but..does this guy provide what we do, to customers (the a$$es in the seats and the T.V. money) everyday? Hey for 52 mil over 4 years I'd cut my hair and shave too!
Maybe I should have paid more attention in P.E. ? Pin Stripes, Red Sox. WHO CARES ? He still makes too much money for services provided. JMHO. Chris0 -
shame on you
Only a game? Speak for yourself. I'll NEVER forget little Pokey tossing that ball to first base. I'll miss Johnny and I'm a bit surprised.

Gary,
Sorry brother, that's my story...and I'm sticking to it.
Think Roger, Pedro and all the other spoiled rich "players" that left for more money. They didn't care about the game, they didn't care about the team, only the business, and how they may live their lives without ever having to worry about physicaly working ever again. Think about Yaz,Tiant and Petrocelli. When they "retired" they had to find work. The money they were getting paid back then wasn't enough to keep the bills paid through retirement, yet they gave more to the "sport" than any of these spoiled rotten overpaid crybabies that play a game for a living today will ever understand. Let them eat cake. Marieantoinette.... Chris0 -
couldn't have said it better myself Chris
As much as I love wathcing the game they all make WAAAAY too much money.

Crew cut.
I just can't wait to Damon gets a HAIR CUT.

Johnny, we hardly knew ye!
My 11 year old daughter has a Johnny Damon shirt and a Johnny Damon picture. She wants to burn them now. Another fledging citizen of Red Sox Nation is initiated.

It's funny
Wow Johnny wanted too much money? Wrong ! The Red Sox got caught with their pants down and have lost the best lead off hitter in baseball. What do you care what the Red Sox spend, that's a joke.0 -
Sox VS Yanks
Too much $ involved.
It'll hurt my eyes to see Johnny D. in pin-stripes but, we Bostonians are use to this kind of abuse. Not a first and won't be the last. Hey, It's just a game right?;-)

Looks good,
doesn't he? She looks pretty good too.Retired and loving it.0 -

But look
at how happy he is, Scott. ;-)Retired and loving it.0 -
Yes Dan.
He does look happy. How does he sleep at night? (other than the fine down pillows and the arm candy at his side ...as far as she knows!)
To take that much money for what he does is a sin. Does he give back? I certainly hope so, and hopefully not just for tax purposes. Hope we enjoy the Holidays as much as Jonny will, pinstripes and all. Chris0 -
In Boston
my brother (who lives 1/2 mile from Fenway) tells me that today he walked past several sports memorabilla stores...all who had Johnny Damon pics and posters posted upside down and the words "Traitor" in the window.
Will he be boo'd or a standing ovation first at bat in Fenway when the Yanks play Boston???

Johnny is moved on again
I remeber when he was a roookie in KC.
We small market teams can not compeat with the $$$ of NY, Chicago, California, Atlanta, and Boston. Red sox nation we feel your pain.

Will that be
before or after he gets on first?Retired and loving it.0 -
Great quote in the paper today:
"This team really wanted me," he said. "And now I'm going to go out there and run through walls for them and hit and score lots of runs and bring another championship to New York."Retired and loving it.0 -
The Greatest Baseball Team

I know I'll give him a standing O. He played his a$$ off every day for the Sox, while never WHINING. Good to see that Larry Luciano is doing a good job running things(NOT) now that Theo is gone. Cant hate the guy for juming ship, 13 mil. NY city. not a bad life for himself and family.
Im a lifetime sox fan.
I love NY. Its the damn yankees I hate.
Yeah, its only a game, but it sure does bring back and keeps making great memories. Cant say that for many other things. Some think the money athletes make is rediculous, well it is, but its chump change compared to the salaries of some top CEO's. At least the athletes are entertaining us. All the power to em.
good luck Johnny, we'll miss ya.

Have you ever seen such a smile?Retired and loving it.0 -
not since the Sox beat the yanks 4 straight, then sweep the series
merry xmas.

And they did that
with Johnny! Can't wait.Retired and loving it.0 -
Can't wait...
Dan, remember you can't buy a World Series. At least not since 1919. I realize you must be getting itchy. I forgot how to scratch completely, since the Mariners gave Randy Johnson away, not to mention Griffey and A-Rod.
Al Levi is probably ready to move back to NY and buy season tickets.
Merry XMAS!! Paul

we don't talk about such things in Seattle.
However, the SuperBowl is another matter. I'm hardly into football, but when the hometown is on a roll.....
