h.w. recirculating with an indirect

valve needs to have check valves installed on it to keep the water from short cycleing through the valve....also And more importantly the T&P balve is NOT installed right...it MUST be w/ in the top 6" of the water heater to sence overheating...unless that probe is 14" long w/ I don't think that exists... very important.

    recirculating hw with an indirect

have a tt tube smart 80 indirect, witha prestige 110 boiler, indirect set up with califfe mixing valve tank temp set to 150 cw approx 45 and mixed water set to 120. just installed a lainge recirc pump into aux port on tank with dip tube.pump set on timer to run few hrs in morning and evening. water is recic from farthest fixture on second floor via 1/2" line. problem is the 150 degree water is been drawn thru caleffi and to all fixtures whenever pump is running, water tempers back to 120 after fixture is open for a few minutes.what is proper piping to avoid this potential scald issue, see pictures for present piping thanks

    RECIRC

ck valves where ,between caleffi and what sorry don't understand youranswer, i'm thinking i have to draw the cold water as well as hot (150) tank water thru caleffi to get proper mixing while pump is recircing or do i return ricirc line to a tee upstream of caleffi valve. t & p is at hottest water location

    the t&p may..

be in the hottest pipe location but NOT in the tank...it must be in the tank, by code, look at the install instructions.

    recirc

there is no tapped port on tt tube smart 80 for threading in a t/p valve directly into tank

install tee on top of tank

put the TP valve in top with element hanging into tank and run water out of the branch of the tee

    recirc

would installing a 1/2 tee on suction side of lainge recirc pump and conecting to to a tee just below 1" cw tee to caleffi valve create a equal pressure drop across vave and allow the valve to maintain the 120 set point while recircing just thinking an ideas

    You could

always just let the loop run wild and mix down at the point of use. What the hell...its all money out the window.

    here is a suggestion....

go to the Weil-Mclain website...look at the piping diagram they have for the Gold plus indirect..(it is the same water heater that you have except in W-Mc jacket) Go to page 23 on the install manual....it shows how to pipe it the proper way...and you are correct . The water is not getting equal pressure through the valve.

    One more pic please...

Do you have a pic showing the directional arrow on the recirc? I don't see a flow check, does the circ have one built-in?

Nice curves on the mixed! Likes great!
