We replaced the steam boiler in this 1898 victorian located in North Arlington, VA. The house is heated by a Hoffman-Equipped two pipe vapor system with column radiators. We left the Hoffmann Differential Loop in place but added a Gorton #2 vent. We also replaced all of the radiator traps, crossover vents, and added a Gorton #2 at the end of the dry return. The boiler is a Burnham Independence IN-10. -DF

George
Hi George,
I should have added that we used the new Rhomar 9150 steam boiler cleaner and 903 steam boiler water treatment on this job. It worked like a champ and I just ordered several more cases.
I got this job from my Find-A-Professional ad. I have three more replacement steam boilers lined up including a $30k+ commercial replacement - all from my F-A-P ad. I also give a copy of "We Got Steam Heat" with every steam proposal. It has doubled my closure rate and helped to seperate FMI from the competition. The cost is minimal when you buy in quantity. It is absolutely amazing that more contractors do not take advantage of the F-A-P feature on this site. -DF

Thanks for your vote of approval.
It is also fun to be vicariously involved with the beautiful projects that you company comes up with all the time.
I have to believe your clients are the luckiest home owners in Virginia.0 -
That is
a picture perfect steam boiler . I'm not sure if they do , but I think Burnham should look into having an online picture book and this job should be front and center under " steam " . Really beautiful job Dan .0 -
Thanks
Thanks for the comments, Ron. It's easy when there is a basement entrance and and open, unfinished basement to work in. How you can pipe a steamer in a tight closet amazes me. -DF

Very dry work...
.... at least the steam ought to be super-dry by the time it comes out of that neat double-entry drop header and heads upstairs.
Looks like these folk are doing everything right, from hiring the right experts to fix their heating system to painting the exterior in the color schemes of the day...0
